Jun 29 The Costa Rica Retreat

This may have been the most anticipated trip of my life. Honestly, with three years in the making, not by my choice mind you, it had quite the build to live up to! I’m happy to say Costa Rica was wonderful!

First, I have to say, with out the amazing people who chose to adventure with me, this would not have been the experience that it was! To all of you, THANK YOU 🙏! You all are the ones who made this experience such a blessing. Yes, the space was beautiful, the staff kind and thoughtful, and the yoga sweaty, but you all, you are the ones who bring me joy!

I am thankful.

Santa Teresa, what a funky fun and odd little place in the world! The food here: INCREDIBLE! Every place I ate was special. Normally on a vacation there are some memorable meals, and a few that just provide sustenance, but, man, this little town has food that brings joy. If you like to eat. GO TO THIS PLACE.

Hotel Tropico Latino, our home away from home for the week was such a special magical little haven. Set back in the trees just off the ocean it felt like being in your own jungle book. With howler monkeys over head ( don’t worry, they only howled a few mornings) and vines hanging down over the rocky sea shell filled pathways it felt like I had really stepped out of the nonsense of the current world into the real world. A place set aside from the chaos. Laying in the hammocks looking up into the trees was a very meditative space. Just the right amount of light to give it some magic as I swayed with the sounds of the waves.

The staff at Tropico: Fanctasic! I think I can speak for everyone when I say they seemed to really want to make us feel both at home and taken care of. I have never experienced service quite like it. Not only was it good, it felt thoughtful, like they all really cared and wanted us there.

The ocean and beaches are dynamic there. Beautiful. Powerful. Loud. Warm. Every day they changed offering something new to see or find. The ocean always feels both cleansing and renewing to me. There, it felt unpredictably both.

We had some fun in yoga! I love all the discussion and depth that is allowed when we get to practice together so often. Not only did we learn, but, we laughed ( normally at something crazy or inappropriate I said). We got to play and explore the joys of yoga, in person, together! That fact, a blessing on it’s own!

My prayer for this retreat was that everyone would leave feeling both supported and renewed. That it would feel like a blessing to have been in the time and space together. I was hopeful it would be joyful, full of laughter and love.

I think it was a success….
